ffiXXed is a collaborative art and design project initiated by artist/designers Kain Picken and Fiona Lau in Berlin, February 2008. Since then the ffiXXed headquarters has remained mobile, gravitating to whatever global centers in no particular order. Their focus is split between the production of a unisex, prêt a porter fashion label, and a range of other art and design related activities.
ffiXXed often uses the framework of fashion to participate in a wider discussion about new possibilities for the consumption and production of contemporary culture. The ffiXXed collections respond to the role clothing and objects play in constructing our daily lives, elaborating a series of new and unexpected forms of trans-functionality for every-day basics. They utilize natural fibers and highly personalized production techniques to address, transcend and stimulate a variety of social and domestic situations.
In February 2010, after moving between studio spaces in Berlin, Hong Kong, New York and Melbourne, they established their own in-house production studio in Shenzhen, China - one of the world’s fastest growing cities. Here they have developed a unique, multifunctional living/working space that shifts around the needs of various ffiXXed activities.
All ffiXXed garments are produced in-house at ffiXXed studios, located at the foot of the Wutong Mountain in Wutong Village.
